We (Al Coccola, Dave Shelton, and Mike Tarentino) have a new show! It’s so big it’s even got two names :+) - V.I.M.A.C.S. (Vancouver Islands Most Amazing Collectable Show) or “The *ALL* Collectables Show”.
The show is for collectibles of all types and, (NEW), also provides a venue for hobby clubs or collectable groups to have their own “swap meets” within the larger show. Holding a swap meet was never easier, plus the club or hobby is displayed to a wide section of the public!
We’ve already signed up individual dealers for Comics, Coins, Toys, Stamps, Cards, Cameras, Lego, China, and just about everything in between! The Victoria Numismatic Society has purchased 25 tables for their “show within a show”. We’re actively approaching other groups to take blocks of tables.
The show is Sunday, June 13th at Pearkes Arena at the Tillicum Mall
Show time is 10am to 4pm for the public, with set up at 7am. Early birds are let in at 8:30. There is also an early set up (no charge) available the night before on June 12th from 9pm to 11pm. Lots of free parking.
8 foot tables are $45, or three for $120. We should have over 200 dealer tables at the show. Currently (Mar 09) we’re at 102. The arena provides tables in blocks of 70, so once we sell 140 we’ll take names ‘til we have enough interest to jump to 210 (the third quarter of the arena).
Here are a few of the exciting things happening at the show:
1. VIMACS' very own commemorative medallion will be released at the show. Designed by Michael Tarantino of A.A.A. Stamp Coin Jewellery Inc., the medallion is the 3rd in a series begun in 2005. The obverse will be the official seal of Vancouver Island (circa 1849), and the reverse will depict "St. George slaying the dragon" as on English gold sovereigns. There will be one hundred in bronze, fifty in .999 silver and ten in .999 gold (1 ounce) each previous medallion series sold out. The coin will be on display within the Victoria Numismatic Society's tables at VIMACS show.
2. On the comic book side we have five incredible artists in attendance, including Paul Chadwick and Stephen Sadowski. We also have Acid Rain Publishers out of Vancouver, who will be giving away free comics at their tables (while supplies last). This will be the comic event of the year on Vancouver Island.
3. We have Lully's Sandwich Bar operating a concession in the parking lot just outside the front entrance. Lully's is a new lunchtime eatery located at 732 Broughton St in downtown Victoria. Their sandwiches and soups are incredible. Great tasting food and reasonable prices.
4. We will be doing several promotional events with the Jeneece Edroff Society. Most Victorians will be familiar with Jeneece, who is a young teenager who has raised millions for charitable projects. Her presence at the show will be heavily advertised through the local media outlets. We will be donating partial proceeds from the gate and doing several fund raising activities in the hall. Check out her web-site: http://www.rwglobal.com/~jeneece/index.html
We’re trying to make this the collectibles show for Victoria. An annual event that folks won’t want to miss. We’re going to promote the dickens out of it and have promotional events planned to make this a show to remember!
To join in, just fill out the application and send it in along with your cheque.
It’ll be a hoot!
Hope to see you there!
